The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Task Force was organized by the Office on Aging in 1998 in response to a directive from the Board of Supervisors to coordinate a process that would identify issues and concerns of grandparents raising grandchildren in Riverside County and to recommend program and policy strategies to address the issues, including enhanced coordination across county departments and agencies. A Program & Public Relations Committee and a Systems Change Committee are also active. The primary objectives in the 2005-2009 SPA include C.4a, C.4b, C.5, and C.6. The committee will coordinate with the full Council regarding related Advocacy objectives C.1, C.3, and C.7.
